So, the majority of the last week in April was spent at the Romantic Times Booklovers convention.
I’ve got to say, a lot of Romantic Times would be very familiar to the habitual SF con goer. The panels are all called workshops, and there are way more women, but otherwise…lots of hallway discussions, lots of funky and interesting clothing and costuming, lots of people talking in their own jargon, lots of mundanes who want to know what the HECK is going on here.
The drive went fine, check-in was very organized, in fact my roomie Cindy Pape and I were the first in line. People were friendly and ready to welcome a first timer (yes, I was an RT virgin and the term was used a lot). I hadn’t been there three hours before I met my first cover model, went to first room party, crashed my first publisher’s party and had editor show off new tattoos. This was also a first.
And that was pretty much Tuesday.
